Alisa Harrison (she/her) is founder and principal consultant at Alight Insights. She lives and works on the traditional and treaty territories of the st͡sʼəwaθən məstejəxʷ (Tsawwassen) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
Alisa’s professional path weaves together leadership, learning and healing, and she brings a rare blend of intellectual depth, lived experience, and deep compassion to her work.
Alisa earned a PhD in History and Black Studies from Duke University and is a Certified Organizational Coach with a Professional Certified Coach credential from the International Coaching Federation.
For nearly two decades, she has worked in British Columbia as a leader, educator, and consultant in the health and social services sectors. She has held founding and senior leadership roles in health system non-profits and universities, and led numerous system improvement and transformation initiatives with the provincial and regional health authorities, Ministry of Health, University of BC’s Faculty of Medicine, Divisions of Family Practice, Doctors of BC, and other organizations. In leadership, Alisa consistently blends vision and pragmatism, and strives to cultivate generative, respectful working and learning environments that see opportunity in complexity, support diverse teams to build shared purpose, and develop adaptive strategies for change.
Alisa has also taught post-secondary for over 25 years, and is currently Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University, where she teaches and supervises graduate students in the School of Leadership Studies and the Master of Arts in Executive and Organizational Coaching, and facilitates leadership training for professionals with Professional and Continuing Studies. As a coach and educator, Alisa supports individuals and teams to build resilience, relational leadership skills, cultural humility and psychological safety, as well as explore opportunities for personal and organizational growth and development.
Alisa works transparently and with humility shaped by historical study and her own experience, which includes being a late-identified autistic woman in recovery from complex trauma, eating disorders, workplace moral injury, and burnout. She holds a grounded understanding that healing is not linear and there is no perfect path forward. Justice matters. Connection matters. And gentleness matters — especially when people are figuring things out in real time.
